Kinds of Aisles
Lift trucks are classified due to the types of aisles they have been designed to operate in. Wide Aisle and Narrow Aisle lift trucks are designed to turn in the aisle, whilst Very Narrow Aisle trucks really don't turn within the aisle. There are certain aisle widths to consider with various models.
Very Narrow Aisle trucks can operate in less than 6 feet places, whilst some will use specific guidance systems like rail, wire or optical systems in order to travel in the aisles. Some different models of VNA trucks include Turret Trucks, Swing Masts and Order Selectors. These are popular kinds in compact retail areas and in some storage and warehouse situations.
Narrow Aisle or NA trucks are able to operate within aisles which are 8 feet to 10 feet. Usually these are stand-up units like Reach Trucks. They are commonly used in storage facilities and warehouses.
The wide aisle forklift is designed to work within aisles more than 8 feet to 10 feet.
Stand-Up Ergonomics
The stand-up ergonomics include "Ergomat" padding with a sloped floorboard which is designed to reduce operator fatigue by absorbing vibration. The compartment for the driver is big and has an 8" low step height which helps lessen overall body exhaustion by easing frequent entry and exit. The model consists of polyurethane steer tires to absorb vibration and shocks caused by uneven floor in order to enable smooth traveling. For additional comfort, there is a floor mat and a cushioned armrest as well as a backrest designed to help keep operators comfortable and therefore more productive while limiting exhaustion.
