Seat Belts for Counterbalances
A forklift, also known as a counterbalance, lifts loads as heavy as 30,000 lbs. Despite being large and sturdy, these industrial machines still bear the potential risk of crash or accident. In order to be safe, be certain to have operators put on the correct seat belt inside the forklift and make certain that up to standard safety features are on board. We all know that seat belts could save lives in the event of an accident.
Three-Point Seat Belt
The types of seat belts which can extend both across the upper body and over the lap are the three-point seat belts. These types of belts offer an extra degree of safety by protecting your body. They are offered in both bucket-seat and bench-seat styles. The 3-point seat belts are offered in either retractable and non-retractable kinds.
Most modern motor vehicles on the market offer retractable seat belts. While non-retractable kinds increase safety, retractable kinds offer more comfort. It is truly impossible for a non-retractable seat belt to extend accidentally.
Lap belts
The kind of seat belt which only extends over the lower portion of the body is a two-point lap belt. Most lap belts feature a push-button closure system and are non-retractable. In order to secure the seat belt, simply press on the belt button and the two sides will separate.
Circuit-closed seat belt
The circuit-closed seat belts are the type that force forklift operators to put on a seat belt. These seat belts have a micro-switch attached that sounds an alarm if an operator starts a vehicle and is not secured by a seat belt. The circuit-closed seat belts are made in both retractable and non-retractable lap-band types.
