The following add-ons are helpful for narrow aisle lift trucks:
Side shift: The side shift option allows the lateral movement of the load without having to move the truck. This allows loads to be positioned with much more precision.
Tilt mast: The optional tilt mast enables the forks to shift both forwards and backwards. This is recommended in cases where loads aren't entirely level. To be able to gain greater stability when moving a loaded truck, the mast can be tilted backwards.
Extendable forks: Extendable forks help the reach of a forklift to allow for the stacking of pallets one in front of the other. This is known as double deep loading.
Operator platforms: Several NA lift trucks have operator platforms which could raise and lower the operator while at the same time lowering and raising the lift truck's forks. This offers utmost visibility and control while handling cargo at heights of 6 to 9 meters.
Forklift on a Ramp
Operators need to be well taught and should be assessed and licensed. It is very essential for anyone operating a forklift to be knowledgeable about safety rules and problems. Drivers must know how to make adjustments in cases where the weight of the load changes the center of gravity or on uneven surfaces. Safety measures include safely utilizing a lift truck on a ramp, which is a frequent happening because the driver would normally need to drive down and up ramps in order to load and unload containers.
Guidelines for Operating a Lift Truck on a Ramp
1 Drive at slow speeds while approaching a ramp and while driving up and down the ramp. The risk of accidents is increased when driving at high speeds since this can upset the machine's center of gravity.
2 Drive the lift truck in reverse while moving up an incline on a ramp when not carrying a load.
3 When moving down an incline on a ramp with no load, drive forward.
4 Tilt the forks slightly back to shift the center of the load to the equipment's front, when moving down or up a ramp when carrying a load.
5 To make the load more stable, drive forward up a ramp while carrying a load.
