The forklift is a material handling equipment used to raise and transport loads from one location to another. Every part of a forklift has a particular function. Various parts can be utilized to transport the load vertically or horizontally.
Mast
The parts used to lower and lift the load is called the forklift mast. There are different kinds of masts utilized for lifting loads to various heights: duplex, triplex, quad and simplex.
Power Supply
There are four different ways you could power a forklift: gas, electric, propane and diesel. The battery is situated within the cab beneath the seat. The propane tank is on the rear of the truck. The fuel tank on gas and diesel forklifts is under the back of the truck.
Cab
The forklift cab is located in the center of the truck. This is where the operator sits and accesses all the controls and informational gauges. The gas pedal, steering wheel, brake, lifting controls and tilting controls are all situated inside the cab.
Frame
Carrying all the biggest forklift parts is the frame of the truck. This consists of the counterweights located at the back which prevents the truck from tipping over when loaded. The frame consists of the overhead guard that protects the operator. The undercarriage holds the wheels, driveshaft and axles.
