Bud Bushnell established Genie Industries in 1966, after he purchased the manufacturing rights to a material lift which operated on compressed air. The name Genie came from the "magic in the bottle" that was utilized to lower and raise the hoist. This device greatly impressed customers and therefore, the name was established.
Genie has moved into many new markets, since the need for work platforms and lifts grew. Over time, as the requirements for new machinery to meet many applications grew, the company made itself known in numerous new markets. For example, Genie went into production with stick booms, telehandlers, man-lifts, articulated booms and light towers.
Genie decided to obtain a partner who had the same values as a result of the economic recession in the beginning of the 2000s, when they partnered with Terex. This company has a history obtaining equipment manufacturers all around the globe who proved to be a good business match. Genie Industries was sold in the year 2002 and became a part of Terex Corporation.
In the early years after the sale, it was determined to maintain the Genie brand name within the Terex Aerial Work Platforms or AWP segment of Terex, because of the name's solid reputation in the marketplace. Thus, all Genie equipment continue to be sold under the Genie brand.
The company takes great pride in taking advice from and listening to their customers. Genie has always been continually dedicated to improving the efficiency and quality in addition to minimizing wastes. Even long after the sale has been closed, the company concentrates on providing exceptional support. These are the very work practices that have made Genie a trusted brand over the last decades and continue to keep their reputation for top-of-the-line and quality equipment.
Genie's Bi-Energy and DC equipment are emission-free, quiet machinery capable of working in delicate work environments. Where the machine should be driven significant distances, such as in industrial situations, the Genie bi-energy system combines the advantages of a 48V DC machine along with the power of a diesel-powered generator.
Compared to any of the various kinds of aerial platforms, telescopic booms provide more horizontal reach overall. These machinery are ideal for limited access places in construction and other industrial settings. The Genie Telescopic S booms have been designed to offer utmost productivity. These equipment provide supreme traction and the drive speed you require in order to travel around the job area and work site.
