Hazards of Type-G lift trucks
Forklifts perform an essential part in the operations of warehouses and other businesses. These equipment are capable of raising and moving huge loads from one place to another. There are several variations on the lift truck. The primary variation is the way in which different types of forklifts are fueled. "LP" lift trucks are the type which is most common. They run on liquid propane. Type "E" forklifts have large rechargeable batteries and operate on electricity. Type "D" forklifts utilize diesel and type "G" use gasoline. While all forklifts, like any piece of heavy machinery, can pose a hazard, the type of lift trucks which are powered by gasoline carry the most risks.
Fire
Forklifts labelled type G could present a fire hazard. Gas lift trucks are not made with the same rigorous standards. Gas leaks are the biggest cause of fire due mainly to gas leaks and also escaped gas fumes. This could result from accidents and from driving on really rough terrain or normal wear. These circumstances pose a danger and can lead to fire. Hence, a standard Type G forklift must never be used in conditions where elevated fire risk is deemed not acceptable. For instance, these kinds of forklifts must not be utilized around explosives or hazardous chemicals.
Explosion
Gas lift trucks also pose a risk of explosion, as do diesel and liquid propane based forklifts. A gasoline powered forklift could explode as a result of a serious accident in circumstances where a gasoline leak and an ignition source are present. An explosion could happen when sparks are created in the collision and the sparks ignite the gasoline.
Fumes and Exhaust
Type G forklifts pose a serious inhalation hazard because of poisonous fumes. Gasoline fumes can be deadly in high concentrations. Fumes could result from gasoline leaks or from the exhaust itself. Therefore, a Type G lift truck is not suggested for any environment which is poorly ventilated. The exhaust will present a serious danger in enclosed places. This particular kind of forklift should be used with care when operated in close proximity to individuals.
