There are two standard types of lift trucks, models that run on gas and models which run on electricity:
Internal Combustion Lift trucks: The IC Lift Trucks run on liquid propane, gas, CNG or compressed natural gas or diesel. The gas powered models are meant to be used outside because they release pollutants and gases which can be harmful if inhaled. Units that run on gasoline are also great to be utilized in the rain and in bad weather conditions. These models could carry weights around 15,000 to 35,000 pounds. Due to the maintenance and fuel costs, models that run on gas are much more expensive to utilize than models which run on electricity, although, they cost less up front compared to electric powered models. Units that run on liquid propane are the best option for safe use in indoor applications.
Electric Lift Trucks: Electric lift trucks take batteries which require frequent charging. Because these units do not burn any fuel, there are no emissions polluting the air with these vehicles. They are the right choice for indoor applications and warehouses. In addition, electric lift trucks do not need any fuel storage units and they are a lot quieter to run than other models. Among the downsides of electric powered models is that they are unable to lift loads over 15,000 pounds and therefore, have a slower acceleration compared to gasoline powered units.
