How to Charge a Scissor Lift
There is a great convenience when using a scissor lift, because the convenience of working and the lift basket's security gives peace of mind when attempting to perform tasks that could have otherwise required utilizing the rung of a ladder. The safety risks involved with this machine make it the best alternative for performing tasks from heights.
Most scissor lifts are powered electrically by batteries which have been mounted directly onto the machine. These batteries would have to be charged after a long shift or after sitting for extended periods without use. It is an easy job to charge the batteries. This can be done without any specialized equipment or tools and requires no heavy labor.
The equipment has to be parked near an electrical output in order to prepare the scissor lift for charging. This charging area should also be in a well-ventilated area. Next, in order to avoid another operator from driving away with the lift plugged in, press the emergency shut-off switch. The emergency shut off switch is the large red button found inside the basket of the lift, near the control box or the charger. Find the battery charger on the base of the lift on the right side. Normally, units that are older would have the charger mounted on the rear of the lift.
Then, plug the charger into the AC extension cord. Be certain you are charging in a place that is well ventilated and after that plug the extension cord into an electrical outlet. So as to avoid accidental damage from being run over, the length of the electrical cord on the battery charger is intentionally short. This is because if any extra length were to drop out of the battery charger storage place while in use, extreme danger could likely happen.
