Forklift Tire Specs
Forklifts have been an essential tool in commercial businesses and industry ever since the year 1917. Throughout its history the forklift has evolved through different kinds, from a tractor with a platform attachment to a particular high-tech machinery. Forklift tires have also changed into particular tires, with different types designed to meet specific functions.
Cushion (Solid) Tires
A cushion tire is made of solid polyurethane or rubber and is suitable for indoor work on smooth surfaces. The tread of a cushion tire is bonded or pressed onto the steel ring of the tire. Cushion tires are rated for different load capacities and for ease of steering. Cushion tires are usually used in warehouse settings.
Pneumatic Tires
Pneumatic forklift tires are filled with foam or air. They are offered in two kinds: radial or bias. Depending on the use, they are offered with various sidewall protection, tread depths and weight. Pneumatic forklift tires that are filled with foam maintain constant pressures and are less susceptible to punctures. Pneumatic tires are commonly used outdoors on surfaces which are uneven and rough.
Pneumatic Shaped Solid/Solid Pneumatic
The comfortable ride which pneumatic tires provide along with the puncture resistance that solid tires provide are the combined features of Solid Pneumatic Hybrid Tires. They are a good option to the outdoor pneumatic tire.
Large Rubber and Flotation Tires
Large rubber tires, that can either be solid, pneumatic or foam, are used on wheel loader forklifts. These tires are best for loading and moving heavy objects onto trucks or into processing equipment. Large flotation pneumatic tires are suited for masted rough terrain forklifts usually used at auto recyclers, lumberyards and construction locations.
