Reach Truck
A reach truck is utilized to pile up supplies, pallets of goods, and to keep storage places tidy. The reach truck comes in several types: the stand-up reach, double-deep reach and straddle reach.
The stand-up is the most basic. The truck forks slide under the pallet and move it to the appropriate storage place. The forks slide the pallet into place. This kind of reach truck is suitable when shelving units are one pallet deep.
Best for workplaces where the shelving units are deep enough to accommodate two pallets of goods, the double-deep reach truck, that is like the stand-up, is commonly used. This particular version consists of telescopic forks intended to place the pallet at the back of the shelving unit. This eliminates the need to push the pallet back when another pallet must go into the same shelving section.
Straddle reaches have the added advantage of being able to not just slide under the pallet, but also to grasp the sides. These are recommended for workplaces where shelving units are accessible in many directions. This version is best in conditions where goods would not be damaged if the sides of the pallet are grabbed.
Usually more than one kind of reach truck is required inside warehouses. Textile firms and manufacturing facilities utilize different types of reach trucks in their supply areas. The reach truck is not hard to utilize and could increase production while maximizing available storage space.
