Propane cylinders take up little space and they can be kept either inside of a storage area or outside of a facility. It does take some time to switch out a propane cylinder, although, it still does requires operator training in order to be conducted safely and also need knowledge of safety standards like the OSHA or Occupational Health and Safety Administration.
Compared to the electric forklift, IC lift trucks are easier and faster to refuel. Nevertheless, the internal combustion engine does produce polluting emissions and are really noisy.
NARROW-AISLE LIFT TRUCKS
The Class 2 forklifts consists of numerous types of forklift that are particularly designed to be used in narrow aisles. The standard storage aisles are 12 feet wide, and this easily allows a counterbalanced forklift to turn in the aisle and put a load away. Usually, the very narrow aisles are around 5.5 to 6 feet wide, whereas narrow aisles are 8 feet wide. These narrow aisles need specialized forklifts which could put away loads without any turning at all or that are small enough to turn on a tight radius.
The three most common narrow aisle lift trucks are the turret trucks, order pickers and reach trucks. The differences between these forklifts are discussed below.
Narrow-Aisle Reach Trucks
The conventional reach truck is the original narrow-aisle lift truck and these machinery do not require a counterweight. They are also small enough to turn around in narrow aisles. Instead, stability is provided by the outrigger arms that extend in front of the lift trucks. Then again, depending on the storage configuration, these outrigger arms could prevent the lift trucks from getting close enough to the storage rack to deposit and retrieve loads. To be able to overcome this situation, a pantograph was designed. The pantograph is a reach truck which is made with a telescoping mechanism. This allows forks to concisely and easily reach into storage locations.
The best environment for narrow aisle lift trucks is a place that has clean floors, good lighting and well maintained floor, good traffic flow, in addition to sufficient turning space.
These kinds of machines have changed the material handling business. Toyota stands behind their devotion to providing very durable equipment and excellent quality.
